We recently conducted a CO₂ assessment on the GreenGo platform, which automatically estimates the carbon footprint of an overnight stay in a tourist accommodation. The goal? To gain a concrete understanding of the environmental impact of our "Au Lutin Pommé" gîte and continue to improve what we offer our visitors..
🔍 Result: 3.67 kg of CO₂eq per night per person
This figure represents 64.9% fewer emissions than the average for tourist establishments in France. A significant difference, which shows that our efforts in terms of ecology are bearing fruit..
📊 Where do the emissions from our cottage come from? ?
The diagnosis distributes the emissions as follows: :
- 57.2% related to heating: despite completely redone insulation in 2019, heating remains the main source of emissions. We use connected thermostats for more precise and rational management..
- 22.1% linked to electricity: part of our consumption (around 20%) is covered by solar panels installed on site, which significantly reduces our impact.
- 18.8% related to purchases: equipment, maintenance, furniture, etc. We favor sustainable, local or second-hand products as much as possible..
- 1.9% water-related: we installed a rainwater collector to water the vegetable garden, which helps limit the use of drinking water.
🌿 An ecological approach rooted in everyday life
We are committed to providing a place to stay that respects both visitors and the environment. This involves :
- High-performance insulation since 2019 to limit energy loss,
- Local solar production, adapted to our consumption,
- A shared vegetable garden, watered with rainwater,
- Planting a 250 m hedgerow to promote biodiversity,
- A partially fallowed area, welcoming insects and wildlife,
- Nest boxes and insect shelters installed around the lodge,
- LED bulbs throughout the accommodation,
- Simplified waste management, with easy selective sorting.
🚶♀️ Car-free, but not activity-free !
Our cottage also allows you to enjoy many car-free activities: hikes from the accommodation, greenway just 2 km away to reach Louvigné-du-Désert, Fougères or even Mont Saint-Michel by bike... And at night, far from any light pollution, the starry sky will offer you an unforgettable spectacle.
🌟 And the rest ?
This diagnosis allows us to go further, in particular by considering new ways to reduce the impact of heating. We will continue to improve what we can, little by little, with common sense and conviction..
Thank you to all those who choose accommodation like ours: each stay here contributes to gentler, more sober tourism, and more respectful of the planet. 🌱
